recent news and happenings in the world of eskimo bliss

Haven’t been blogging much lately other than my SXSW recaps, but I do have some big news to report…

  • I’m a little excited but also nervous about the latest with eskimo kiss records (my little label)… in negotiations with a really huge label about a buy-out. This could mean some great opportunities but also I worry about “selling out.” But regardless of what happens, I feel like even the possibility of it is a testament to my hard work over the past eight years, and to all the great bands on the label. So that part makes me very happy.
  • REM’s new record, Accelerate, was just released today but they have already planned a remix album that will feature alternate versions of the songs as remixed by some indie recording artists and producers, one of which is eskimo kiss’s own Chris Jackson of Citified. Cool!
  • One of my favorite acts of SXSW, Yeasayer, is about to embark on a US tour that will include a stop at Lenny’s. Awesome! Oh, and they also FINALLY sent that jewelry to my mom (thanks guys).
  • One of my songs (The Good Graces) is going to be in an upcoming episode of The Hills (I know by this point it sounds like I’m gloating but I’m not, really! Just a lot has happened in the past few weeks. I’m stoked because I’m an absolute geek about that show!).
  • Some of you know about my recent interest in Buddhism as well as yoga… well I’m stoked to be going to this in September (I know, it’s new agey and hippie-ish but I’m into this shit! So quit hatin’!).

I just read this (yes, it’s April 24) and the part that I couldn’t believe was that you were going to pay $870 for the Buddhist retreat. Sounded like a Buddhist version of Camp Lickalotta!
